Crafting Sunday afternoon

It's one of those months with lots of birthdays and anniversaries so I managed to lock myself in my little room for a while on Sunday to get started on them, these are a few I completed and they are now on their way in the post.

Tilda

One of the forums I go on have started a Tilda Challenge, the idea is to create a card something similar to the one in the Tilda magazine.

This is my attempt, to be honest I did put some 'thicker' flowers on it, but it didn't scan well, and I want to send this to my niece for her wedding anniversary (well I might as well make use of it having laboured over making it!!!) so I changed the flowers to flatter ones cut with my bug.

I wasn't sure I liked it much when I made it, but it has grown on me over the last few days.

Yes this months Craft Stamper.!!! What a copy cat I am....I say no more.

I thought it was a brilliant idea to make a card with a gift included. Linda has done an article on this by making the 'pocket' on the front to take a packet of seeds, eager as always to get stuck in and not having the measurements for a seed packet, I used her other idea to make a bookmark and slip it in a pocket.

For a gent in hospital

An elderly friend fell out of bed last week and has cracked his ribs, so is now in hospital. They can't let him come home as he lives alone.

Hopefully this might cheer him up a bit.

Difficult to do a card for a man, a lady would be so easy, flowers or cutie, but think this will be ok.

Grungepaper notebook

I was desperate last year to get my hands on some grungepaper to make some of those gorgeous flowers everyone was making, but I wasn't very successful, so my grungepaper has been sitting in my room waiting for some inspiration.
It struck me that I could make a cover for a note book so had a play yesterday. I ran it through my bug to emboss it, inked it with Hydrangea ink pad. Gold embossed the hinges (which I have to admit to owning for 2 years!!!!) also added some gold embossing to one side. I used the bug again to cut the letters with some glitter paper.
I will be giving my step grand daughter some money for her birthday, but will wrap this up so she has a present to open.
I think she will like it....girls like to have their own little notebooks to write things in don't they?

What else to do on a damp dull January day?

Well craft of course! Not had a good day, up at 4 with a flare up in my shoulder, one of the dogs was sick before I could get him outside, heard of the death of a dear forum friend, and its a dull and damp January day.

So off I toddled to my little room as I do have a few cards I need to get made...well it's a good excuse anyway....I've made two quite similar, but slightly different (as they always are)...one for my step grand daughter who will be 11 this month, and one for a friend, (who is rather fond of her food so I hope she will appreciate the card).

For the birth of a great grand daughter

No it's not my great grand daughter....I'm not that old....yet!!!!

Some dear friends of ours have just become great grandparents for the second time in 6 months so thought it would be nice to send them a card....I did that with the last baby and they were thrilled as no one else sent a card to the very happy and proud great grandparents.

Great Grandma loves butterflies so I had to add one specially for her.....I couldn't use the same baby stamp I used before, but thought this one would be fine.

On a roll!!

Must be back in the swing of things now. I was feeling a bit upinspired so looked through a few back issues of Craft Stamper and saw a project similar to this. Of course, I don't have the stamps they used, so utilized what I have got in my stash and have made this card for another friends birthday.

Quite different from my usual style, but I enjoyed doing something a bit different.... it did involve getting inky and messy...of course!

Sewing kit

This month's challenge on a forum I belong to is to make a tartan sewing kit to go in your handbag.

Well I've struggled with this one I can tell you. I didn't have tartan material so I tried, quite successfully, to use my promarkers on some material, only to find I was stuck as to how to make it up and messed it up!!!! Typical me.

I had various other thoughts, then inspired by some goodies from a Secret Santa I received I used a piece of beige card that had been trimmed with what I assume is a Martha Steward punch (I don't have one of them, but could be tempted seeing the results ha ha) so again out came my promarkers to make the checks (I cut strips out of a piece of card to make sure I got even colouring).

Anyway this is the finished result, not altogether what I had intended, and not totally happy with it.

Back at last

I can't believe it's been so long since I blogged anything, guess making Christmas cards and the festive season rather took over.

Anyway I've had to get going on one or two things, firstly my dearest friend's 6oth birthday this month. I made her a card and a little bag to put her pressie in. I just hope RM deliver it on time.
